A conventional denture takes four to six visits over three to six weeks: impressions, bite records, try in, delivery, and refinements. If teeth must be extracted first, an immediate denture is placed the same day so you never go without teeth, then relined or remade once gums finish reshaping over several months. Expect a few short adjustment visits in the first weeks after delivery; sore spot refinement is normal and quick.
Dentures are prosthetics, not teeth: remove them nightly to let your gums rest, clean them daily with a denture brush, and store them in water so they never dry out. Your gums and ridges keep changing over the years, so plan on relines periodically and replacement roughly every seven to ten years. Bottom dentures are inherently less stable than tops; two implants transform them, and we will show you that option without pressure.
With a new denture, expect an adjustment period of two to four weeks: more saliva at first, minor speech changes that resolve with practice reading aloud, and sore spots we relieve with quick adjustment visits. Start with soft foods cut small, chew on both sides simultaneously, and build toward a normal diet over the first month. Immediate dentures after extractions add typical extraction healing, swelling and tenderness for a few days, managed with ice and rest.
